i installed the patch linked above to no avail. what's strange is that it's happening for scans on both my F and C drives. So i went to re-scan the files on my F drive, and i encountered the problem described above. this caused the majority of my media library, stored on my USB external drive, to go kaput: windows renamed the drive to F. I recently installed a second internal (SATA) drive.

PS: I have no add-ons or plug-ins installed, just winamp pro pure.

I hope this helps you to fix the scan problem, which is very bad in using winamp. When starting any other operation during the scan, winamp crashes very soon. No other operation is really possible, only with "minutes" of time lags. Winamp makes heavily use of the RAM (1GB) and the CPU during the scan. I moved the new folder below the (master)folder, deleted the folders in the options dialog and added the (master)folder again. Then I added the new folder (7,000+ songs) and started rescan. Then I deleted the folders in the options dialog and added one (master)folder (20,000+ songs in 1,800+ subfolders) again. I retried it several times and it always crashed. I added about 7,000 songs at one time to one new folder and started a rescan (options/media library/folders. Rescanning seems to work a little more stable. As some other users mentioned before it seems to be a problem of scanning the drives/folders of the library. I use version 5.541 pro and have the crash problem, too.
